In vitro Fertilization

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is one of several techniques that assist individuals with fertility issues in becoming parents.

IVF, short for In-Vitro Fertilization, is a reproductive technology used to assist couples struggling to conceive naturally. This method involves fertilizing the woman's eggs with the man's sperm outside the body and transferring the resulting embryo into the uterus.

Who Is It Applied To?

IVF can be an option for couples experiencing various reproductive problems. These may include low egg reserves, blocked fallopian tubes, low sperm count or motility, endometriosis, among others. Additionally, women struggling to conceive naturally due to menopause or surgical procedures can also turn to IVF.

Treatment Steps:

Ovarian Stimulation: The first step of IVF treatment involves using hormonal medications to stimulate the woman's ovaries, encouraging increased egg production.

Egg Retrieval: It may take several weeks for the eggs to mature. Once the eggs are mature, they are collected through a surgical procedure, usually guided by ultrasound.

Sperm Retrieval: After egg retrieval, a sperm sample is obtained from the male partner and prepared in the laboratory.

Fertilization and Incubation: In the laboratory, the eggs are fertilized with the sperm, and the resulting embryos are cultured in a suitable environment for several days. During this time, the development of the embryos is monitored to ensure they are developing healthily.

Embryo Transfer: The healthiest embryos are transferred into the woman's uterus. This process is typically painless and done quickly.

Pregnancy Test: Approximately two weeks after embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is conducted to determine pregnancy status.
